What’s it Like in the U.S.?

Almost all Austrians will eventually ask me, “What’s it like in America?”

My usual response to this question is, “I don’t know, I’m from California.” I get weird looks from the people I say this too.

Just yesterday I was reading through the TIME website and found a great article that explains exactly what I mean.

Intersting article. I usually say I’m from Texas instead of from America. Everyone knows Texas and California! And your governor is from Graz! their claim to fame! ha.

Excellent article. I tend to do exactly what Carolyn mentions, when asked the question Where Are You From? “I’m from (Northern) California.” ^__^ 4 out of 5 times Arnold then comes up into the conversation at some point.
