I just downloaded the www.weather.com app onto my Google Android cell phone. Clearly I have been working at tech companies for too long, because 1) I HAVE a Google Android cell phone 2) was capable of this download procedure and 3) was excited about the app.
To my great disappointment however, I cannot change the weather app from Fahrenheit to Celsius. Let’s face it, what does 43F actually mean? I’ve never LIVED in 43F weather before, being a native Californian. Tell me that it is 2C and I understand that this means it is freaking cold outside because it is near freezing.
Here is another thought for you. Why Fahrenheit? Is that secretly a German word? For those of you who speak German, look at it! Fahren-heit.
People, I think I’ve been in Austria for too long.
See…I totally agree with you on the Celsius part. I’ve lived in the states for…hmm…20 years now. I still can’t grasp Fahrenheit. Kinda like I can’t stand imperial measurements either. The rest of the world gets it. 0 degrees means freaking cold. Anything with a – sign in front of it means REALLY freaking cold. 100 degrees is the boiling point. There are 10 millimeters in a centimeter. 100 centimeters in a meter. Not the 12 inches equals a foot crap. HAHA!
It’s funny with measurments.. I grew up in Sweden where one uses the term (1)Decimeter = 10 centimeter. Doesn’t work in Austria – at all. Same thing with (1)Hekto = 100 Gramm. In Austria they instead use (1)Deka = 10 Gramms. After seven years in Vienna, I still get confused.
And by the way, here in Stockholm we have -10 today, THAT is cold
