The traffic in SoCal can suck the life out of you sometimes. I wish we had a high speed rail system.

I find the shopping here much more limited than the UK. The sports shops are great and I love looking at (and sometimes buying) the skis, snowboards, ice-skates, hiking boots and so on. But.... in Salzburg (Land und Stadt) I find they don't do shops as well as the UK (and I imagine the US as well, although I have never been across the pond). The bookshops are a pale imitation and I can never find what I want in the clothes shops. I find myself buying a lot of stuff on the internet too.
We have to go into Salzburg shopping (1 hour 30 mins on bus), usually to Europark and this is lauded as a great shopping centre but is in fact tiny (although it is quite stress free because it is not heaving with people all the time) - I did of course used to live near the Metrocentre in the North East of England which is huge!

Hi Helimax,
Well, L.A. is a fashion capitol. So clothes are a big deal concerning self expresssion. It's really fun to look at people and see how they put clothes together and get inspired with new ideas.

Also, if you want it, you can find it in L.A. In Austria, I find myself ordering a lot of things on the Internet, which I never had to do in L.A.
