I read the report some months ago. Clearly, it needs to be interpreted carefully. For instance, there was an African country (Lesthoto?) that has a very low GDP – so low that there is almost nothing for anyone, male or female. And so the report sees that as equality and gives the country a high score in that regard. Probably not what most of us would consider a good situation for women tho.
If I recall correctly, Austria scores low primarily because of the glass ceiling that the men keep firmly in place with a very low ratio of women in positions of high authority.
